Hi.

Welcome to That Mom Life. Because we've all been THAT mom. It comes with the territory.

Brain Power = Girl Power

Brain Power = Girl Power

"At the age that I am right now, the only thing I can use against Donald Trump is my brain power."

Somehow, kids always sum things up more eloquently than we can as adults.

Brain power is not the ONLY thing, my wonderful daughter. It is THE thing. It's what you will use and nurture and build throughout your entire life and no one can take it away from you.

I had a hard time hiding my tears as I tucked Gretchen into bed tonight. We talked about the election and what it means for a lot of people in the United States, here in Canada, and around the world.

"Maybe when I'm older I'll be the best person for that job."

Preach it, girl.

She hugged me as tears streamed down my cheeks and we vowed to never stop learning, to never stop helping, and always stand up for what is right and good. We will never be oblivious to our privilege and our obligation to be champions for those in need.

I loved hearing Hillary speak these words. She STILL made history by showing girls what's possible, and what still needs to happen.

The glass ceiling wasn't shattered last night, but it's far more fragile than it was when we started.

A friend absolutely nailed it today when she wrote "this is where we begin". So let's.

This isn't the end of the story.

We're WAY too strong for that.
