Little Kids Can Make A BIG Difference
Back in June, my daughter came to me with the idea of doing a lemonade stand to help raise money for the humane society where we adopted our cat.
(Did I mention we got a cat. She's grey and floofy and a total weirdo. She fits right in.)
Anyhow, G has always been an animal lover and this isn't the first time she's wanted to give money to the shelter. Anytime money hits her little wallet, she starts thinking about how she can use it to help animals which makes me so damn proud I could burst.
This time, she wanted to do something biggggger. So, we planned out a lemonade, cupcakes, and cookie fundraiser together, which meant three days of baking and a kitchen covered in baked good.
No joke, there wasn't a surface that DIDN'T have a treat stacked on it. I've literally never baked that much in my entire life and I'm so glad we did it.
Watch the video to see how our day went... and how much Gretchen raised to bring to our humane society!
I was blown away by how much we were able to raise and the reaction at the shelter was so heartwarming.
The moment that I will never forget from the day is when Gretchen came up to me and said, "Thank you so much for making this happen."
You hit me right in the feels, kid :)
I love that her little idea turned into something so much more and that she was 100% dedicated to doing this. I have a feeling we'll be making this a yearly tradition.
Little kids really can make a big difference in the world. We just have to let them.
